Vantage was founded in 1984 with a clear mission to develop and manage healthcare ventures that deliver real savings to customers. We believe in doing business with honesty, service, flexibility, and respect. Those values guide every solution we create to meet healthcare needs.

Our owners include a medical school, a pharmacy school, a dental school, and several community hospitals. By working together, these independent organizations can offer services and programs once available only through large health systems.

Since the beginning, Vantage has specialized in creating jointly owned services that combine local ownership with access to essential care. Instead of choosing between building a service in-house or purchasing it elsewhere, we form joint ventures that keep services in the community.

This model means patients who once had to travel for care can now receive it close to home.

Our Team

Vantage Care Apothecary is built on a foundation of integrity, accuracy, and an unwavering dedication to patient care. Our team of 10 highly skilled professionals brings together more than 300 years of combined pharmacy experience, with over 200 of those years proudly spent serving at Vantage. This remarkable depth of knowledge and commitment allows us to provide not only precise and reliable medication services but also the personalized attention that each patient deserves. Every member of our team shares the same mission—to ensure the best possible health outcomes while treating every patient with the respect, compassion, and professionalism they would give their own family.

 

Among the pillars of our practice are identical twin pharmacists Bob and Paul Hirosky, whose professionalism, expertise, and personal touch have helped shape the pharmacy’s reputation for excellence. With decades of combined service at Vantage Care Apothecary, Bob and Paul exemplify the values of the entire team—meticulous accuracy in every prescription, a deep sense of responsibility for each patient’s well-being, and a genuine connection with the people and communities we serve. Frequently Asked Questions

  • There are no costs to the facility to switch pharmacy service to Vantage Care Apothecary. We also provide medication carts, treatment carts, and laptops for EMAR purposes, at no cost to the facility.

     

  • We package prescriptions in blister cards, unit dose strip packaging, and prescription vials.

  • We have regular delivery routes leaving the pharmacy at 12 noon, and at 5:30pm Monday thru Friday. We also have a night delivery that leaves the pharmacy at 9:30pm Monday thru Friday for urgent medication needs. For the weekends, we have a regular Saturday delivery that leaves the pharmacy at 5pm. We have a pharmacist and a driver available 24/7 to make special deliveries if needed.

     

  • We integrate with leading EMR platforms including Epic, Cerner, PointClickCare, MatrixCare, and others. Our IT specialists work with your team to ensure secure, seamless connectivity.

  • Vantage handles the full billing process in-house. We verify coverage, process claims, and start the prior authorization process so your staff can focus on patient care, not paperwork.

  • We utilize BD Pyxis Medbank Towers in our Skilled Nursing facilities. A BD Pyxis table top version, or an emergency box is available to Rehabilitation facilities.

    Additionally we maintain 24/7 access to a pharmacist and a delivery driver. Urgent medication orders will processed, and sent out for delivery in a timely manner. With most deliveries arriving within two hours of contacting the pharmacist.

  • Currently we service all counties in Western Pennsylvania. We are continually growing, and our service area grows with us. We happy to include your facility as part of our network.
